Don’t Trip Over Your laces!

The natural oils and attributes of leather cause laces to easily untie.  Tips to keep them laced:

  • Once your footwear is broken in, adjust your lacing to a perfect fit, then soak the bow (not the whole shoe) in water. Let them dry naturally, shrinking the leather slightly, and your laces will remain tied.
  • You can also apply a small drop of superglue underneath your bow’s knot for extra security.
  • Below is a demonstration for a double knot that adds double the hold for your laces.

Product Care

Minnetonka

Minnetonka footwear grows more comfortable with wear, and as with most classics, a little patina only adds to their timelessness. But while their style will always endure, an essential component to their longevity is proper care. Thus we’ve compiled a list of a few tricks of the trade (Below) to help you maintain your favorites, adding years to their life and insuring that they’re worn to perfection.

Smooth or Grain Cowhide
A cream shoe polish will protect your leather’s smooth finish.

Suede Leather
Prevent water spots and oil stains with Scotchgard™ protector. Simply spray on and allow two hours to dry. We recommend two applications for first-time use, then weekly or monthly treatments depending on how often the footwear is worn.

Deerskin and Moosehide
Choose a delicate leather cream to clean and preserve your leather’s soft, supple texture.

Sheepskin
A mild detergent (Woolite™ not recommended) or hair shampoo with cool water can be used to spot clean. For difficult spots, use a soft brush. Hand-blot as much moisture as possible, then dry away from direct sunlight or heat to preserve the natural oils.

Submerging sheepskin may shrink your leather and matt the hair; however, after a few wearings, the sheepskin will stretch back to its original size.

Leather Laces
The natural oils and attributes of leather cause laces to easily untie.  Tips to keep them laced:

  • Once your footwear is broken in, adjust your lacing to a perfect fit, then soak the bow (not the whole shoe) in water. Let them dry naturally, shrinking the leather slightly, and your laces will remain tied.
  • You can also apply a small drop of superglue underneath your bow’s knot for extra security.

Craftmanship

Minnetonka Hand Crafted

Minnetonka products are expertly hand-crafted using only the finest materials such as premium deerskin and moosehide. Each and every detail is a tribute to our roots in traditional moccasin footwear with authentic accents like fringe, beading and embroidery. The result is footwear with an enduring and distinctive style that is constructed to stand the test of time.

Our Story

Minnetonka

Since 1946, Minnetonka has been a staple of American style. As post-war Americans took to the highways exploring the country’s natural beauty, they stumbled upon resorts and souvenir shops carrying traditional handmade goods. And in the process, rediscovered America’s original footwear in Minnetonka moccasins.

Today, our products can be seen all around the world—from the Boundary Waters of Minnesota to the streets of New York, London, and Tokyo. No matter the footprint, all are made with the same uncompromising craftsmanship using only the finest quality materials. Minnetonka continues to define American culture with classic design that is forever connected to our natural, free-spirited heritage.
